A Ceremony in the Woodlands
When searching for outdoor venues for a summer wedding, couples often emphasize the need for shade. Stone Mill Inn’s recently renovated Woodlands ceremony site is perfect for outdoor ceremonies.
With a lush canopy of greenery, soft floor of wood chips, and natural landscaping full of ferns and shade-loving plants, the Woodlands provides natural comfort and serenity for any style of ceremony.
Built in the spring of 2026, the Woodlands at Stone Mill Inn features a 3-arch structure over the ceremony seating, with a smaller and more intimate arch for the couple to say their vows.
The Woodlands ceremony site features wooden bench seating for guests, and white chair seating for VIP guests in the reserved rows. VIP seating typically includes parents, grandparents, immediate family, or wedding party.
One of our favorite things about the Woodlands ceremony site is that nature does the work — there is no need (unless wanted) to add additional decor to the space. Claire and Evan chose colorful floral arrangements for the back of the aisle, and flameless candles lining the walkway.
For an added pop of color and personality to match their wedding theme, Lancaster Flower Co. added strings of florals from the ceremony arch.
Dinner in the Garden Tent
For couples who want an outdoor summer wedding, Stone Mill Inn provides a beautiful tented dinner space alongside gardens and historic backdrops. With seating for up to 200 guests, the Garden Tent is the ideal setting for dinner with shade and easy access to a climate-controlled cocktail hour and bar space.
Claire and Evan’s outdoor reception featured seasonal wildflower arrangements, neutral linens and cheesecloth with a sage green napkin, and cafe lights. Guests enjoyed a meal of red wine braised short rib and Stone Mill Inn’s signature chicken with an apricot ginger reduction, paired with yukon gold mashed potatoes and asparagus — the perfect meal for a summer wedding day.
